The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a full-time Instructor (Teaching Assistant Professor). This position includes co-teaching the MCDB 1161 Phage Genomics Lab I (a CURE) along with supervising and assisting graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants for these courses and teaching at least one additional upper or lower division undergraduate course
MCDB provides a number of Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) labs. These labs enable undergraduate students to participate in original research and present their results at a departmental symposium. The Phage Genomics Lab is part of the HHMI sponsored SEA PHAGES program. In this course, students isolate and characterize novel bacteriophages from environmental samples using current molecular biology techniques.
The curriculum of each of the CURE lab courses is already developed but adaptations and growth are welcome and encouraged. Responsibilities for these courses include teaching a lecture once a week to combined sections and supervising and assisting graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants.
