Description

The Department of Biology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor. We are seeking an applicant to teach an introductory lecture course in development and physiology (approximate enrollment 300 students) and upper-level lecture and laboratory classes. Topics of the upper level courses may include human anatomy and physiology, developmental biology, and related disciplines, as well as undergraduate research-based laboratories in their area of expertise. Opportunities are available to teach laboratory courses in the Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) format. The candidate would teach two course-equivalents per semester. The instructor will also advise undergraduate major and pre-major advisees. In addition to teaching, the instructor will contribute to service at the Department, College, and/or University levels.

A number of resources, including seminars, workshops, and grants for course development and professional advancement are available from the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE). The University Technology (UTech) office, the CWRU library system, and faculty mentoring are also available to support pedagogical development and implementation of new teaching technologies/strategies.

The annual starting base salary range for this position is from $71,000 - $90,000. CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. and prior experience as a faculty instructor of college-level lecture and/or laboratory courses.
