Postdoctoral Fellow in Viral Immunology and Education

Trudeau Institute, an internationally acclaimed research institute focused on protecting human health through
alleviating the continuing burden of infectious disease, has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow. The institute hosts multi-disciplinary research devoted to translating the advances of basic science into new strategies to meet today’s urgent infectious disease challenges, collaborating with partners from academic and
governmental biomedical laboratories, the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, and major global health
focused foundations. 

We invite applications for a post-doctoral position that uniquely integrates cutting-edge research in infectious
disease immunology with innovative educational practices. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while developing educational programs that enhance science literacy and engagement. 

The successful candidate will employ immunological techniques including flow cytometry, in vivo preclinical
models of vaccine efficacy, and molecular biological/transcriptomic approaches to achieve project goals. The
work will span immunology, vaccinology, microbiology, biochemistry, and infectious disease. 

Key responsibilities: 
• Conduct advanced research in immunology, focusing on vaccines for respiratory infections. 
• Develop and implement educational curricula and assessments and outreach programs aimed at diverse
audiences. 
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and community organizations to promote research and science
education. 
• Present findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals. 
• Mentor and supervise undergraduate students in research and education initiatives. 
• Apply for grant funding commensurate with experience (e.g. fellowship and training grants).

Qualifications: PhD in immunology or related field with evidence of independence and productivity and a desire to train the next generation of scientists. 
• Demonstrated experience in research and a strong publication record. 
• Excellent written and oral communication and command of the scientific literature. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. 
• Passion for education, with experience in teaching and/or outreach preferred. 
• Experience in mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and pre-clinical animal models is desirable.
 
Compensation: To be determined by the NIH wage scale correlating with number of years as a Postdoctoral
Fellow as published on the NIH web site, https://www.niaid.nih.gov/grants-contracts/salary-cap-stipends

Wages starting at: $61,008.00
