The Department of Biology (www.baylor.edu/biology) in the College of Arts & Sciences (www.baylor.edu/artsandsciences) seeks applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time Lecturer faculty position starting in August 2027. We welcome candidates from all fields of biology, as our curriculum offers diverse teaching opportunities, from foundational courses such as Modern Concepts in Bioscience and Genetics to advanced topics such as Ecology and Molecular Genomics. This position may include responsibilities for laboratory curriculum and management; thus, we are interested in instructors with some experience in undergraduate laboratories. Laboratory responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, oversight of the introductory biology laboratory courses and the Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) who support them.
Lecturers are expected to use educational strategies that emphasize student-centered learning and enable transformative learning experiences in lecture and laboratory courses. Experience or interest in innovative curricula for lab courses that foster a culture of discovery will be viewed as a strength. The department currently supports several course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) and promotes an undergraduate Learning Assistant program to enhance active learning in our lectures and labs.
This position is a 10-month appointment during the academic year. The appointment is a renewable, full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching and laboratory oversight position with a promotion pathway to Senior Lecturer and Teaching Professor (see: Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University).
Candidates who are outside of the United States and do not have other non-immigrant visa status will not be sponsored for an H-1B petition.
