UCSB is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor for a tenure-track position jointly appointed in the College of Creative Studies (CCS) and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in undergraduate teaching, mentorship, evidence-based pedagogy, and discipline-based education research (DBER). The position includes teaching biochemistry courses and labs, mentoring undergraduate researchers, developing innovative curricula, and pursuing scholarly work in education research, instructional innovation, or a related field.
The position is split evenly between the two units, offering the opportunity to work in both a large research department and CCS, which is a small, close-knit undergraduate college. I absolutely love the CCS community! It's such a fabulous, supportive environment for both students and faculty.
Salary: $88,300–$160,000
Anticipated start: July 2027
Priority application deadline: November 11, 2026
I'm very happy to chat with anyone who is interested in the position, especially if you'd like to hear more about CCS or what it's like working at UCSB!
Please share widely!
